Forrest, Forrest Gump

One of the most beloved movies recorded in Georgia is Forrest Gump. This movie is the story of a man who has an IQ of 75. He manages to involve himself in all major events in American history between the 1950s and the 1980s. What makes them unique is how he survives everything around him using his shields of niceness and honesty.

This movie did not turn into a story simply about a mentally retarded man to warm our hearts. Instead, it’s more about seeing through the eyes of someone who lacks cynicism and who takes things at face value. He is a man who seems to be just clever enough.

Forrest was born in Alabama to a mother who owns a boardinghouse. She tried to correct his posture by him wearing braces on his legs, but always encouraged him mentally. Though Forrest is called stupid by other children in his school, he ends up being able to do many profound things throughout his life. One day, the braces fall off his legs and he discovers he can run exceptionally fast.

Forrest is awarded a college football scholarship because of his running. He then fights in Vietnam and receives the medal of honor, while also becoming a ping-pong champion. He then becomes the captain of the shrimp boat and, soon after, a millionaire stockholder of Apple Computer. Later in life, he takes a run across America, then turns around and runs the other way.

Many people may argue that Forrest would not be able to understand the things that have happened to him because of his IQ of 75. Thing is, he is able to understand all he needs to know. Everything else is simply surplus. He understands love and commitment, and that gets him through a lot of challenges in life.

Forrest Gump is a movie that makes you think twice about people with disabilities. It is a wonderful story and one of my favorites.

The Walking Dead

One of the most popular series recorded in Georgia is the show, “The Walking Dead.” In this series, we first see the main character, Rick Grimes, riding his horse down Jackson Street bridge on Freedom Parkway in Atlanta, Georgia after waking up from a coma. He found that the world he knew was in ruins, and was soon left in charge of a group of survivors trying to stay alive in the New World. The show took off as Rick and other characters in the show fought against zombies and humans alike.

Initially, more than 5 million people tuned in to see the iconic image of Jackson Street Bridge in turmoil. My friends at wedding photography Atlanta GA took some great pictures of this actually while they were there! Deputy Rick Grimes had been shot, leading to his coma. When he finally woke up, he found himself in a zombie apocalypse. Luckily, the zombies had not been able to enter his room at the hospital. He left the hospital in search of his family. He soon reconnects with them, but discovers a lot has changed since his time in the hospital since they thought he had died there.

Once the family situation is under control, Rick and his family connect with a group of survivors and he becomes their leader. He takes charge of the group and tries to help them survive, find food, and locate a place they can live. The whole basis of the show is about survival, the risks people are willing to take, and the things you made to in order to survive.

The Walking Dead has grown in popularity since his initial debut. Cable TV records have been smashed and tourism around Atlanta as picked up, thanks to the show. The Atlanta movie Tours draws in over 10,000 customers a year as people run to get in line for tickets to see the zombie themed options the company offers.

Smokey and the Bandit

Smokey and the Bandit

It’s a 1977 action humor video which was filmed in the United States of America, directed by Hal Needham and starred by the likes of Burt Reynolds, Sally Fields, Jack Gleason, Jerry Reed, Pat McCormick, Mike Henry and Paul Williams. The film Smokey and the Bandit was able to inspire other films like Smokey and the Bandit II and Smokey and the Bandit part 3 which followed immediately after the original film.

The film was mainly shot in the streets of Atlanta Georgia in the cities of Lithonia, McDonough and Jonesboro. A friend of mine over at gutter cleaning Roswell saw this movie set and was there for some of the filming near Lithonia. Most of the scenes set in the streets of Texarkana were shot in Atlanta city of Jonesboro and the nearby regions. Most of the run -after parts of the film were shot in the neighboring areas of Atlanta GA i.e. Highway 54 amid Fayetteville and the city of Jonesboro. For majority of the driving parts of the movie Munday’s Mill road, the Core Street in Jonesboro city of Atlanta and McDonough were the places used. The section in the film featuring the racetrack was shot at Lakewood Speedway at the ancient Lakewood Fairgrounds on the south side of Atlanta.

The region about Helen, Georgia was also used for a number of scenes in the film. The part where the character Continue reading Smokey and the Bandit

Hunger Games – Catching Fire

The Hunger Games – Catching Fire, most likely you have seen the movie, or maybe even read the book, but do you understand it or realize why you love it so much? For many this answer is no. They just know that the book is great and that they enjoyed reading it. This overview will hopefully give some understanding to this epic book and address the many qualities and disappointments that fans had for this dominating series. Be aware for those who have yet to read this book, many spoilers will be included.

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins was published in 2008. Since then it has become the favorite book of many as well as a box office hit. Every time pawn shop cumming ga gets any of these books in, they sell out same day. The book starts off through the eyes of Katniss Everdeen, a 16-year old living in District 12 of Panem, formally known as America. Panem is a very poor nation with all who live there suffering and starving, with the exception of the Capital where all the rich people live. To remind the 12 districts who is in control, the Capital holds the annual Hunger Games where each district must submit to children ranging from ages 12-18 to fight to the death. Only one will win. Each child gets one entry in the Hunger Game pool when they turn twelve and an extra entry each year until they are eighteen. Many children are entered in more, however, for they can enter themselves in more times in exchange for food.

Katniss, who is a known law-breaker by hunting for food, has many entries into the Hunger games, though it is not herself that she fears for. She fears for her sister Prim who just turned twelve with only one entry and her best friend Gale who is eighteen with many entries. When the time comes for to select the Hunger game participants, shockingly Prim gets selected. Katniss is overcome with emotion and will not allow for her younger sister Continue reading Hunger Games – Catching Fire

Dumb and Dumber To

In the first blog post about movies that have been filmed here in Atlanta, Georgia, we will talk about Dumb and Dumber To. This movie was funny as heck to me and my friends who went and saw it together. It was much anticipated after the original was filmed almost 20 years prior to the sequel that came out. Basically the two dumb dumbs are 20 years older and haven’t gotten any smarter during these 2 decades. It is funny that they have the new comedian that is getting big Rob Riggle in the movie as he adds another funny element to the characters and is getting messed with around every turn. My buddy over at movers Atlanta loved that they added him.

Turns out that Lloyd was pulling a prank on Harry for the last 20 years and faking his own sickness in a retirement, old folks home. Harry comes and visits him in the home and Lloyd acts like he cann’t walk, is cripple and is playing a joke on Harry. He finally towards the end of the scene jumps out of his wheelchair and laughs at Harry letting him know the joke is on him! Hahaha, Harry is stunned and shocked that Lloyd would sit in a retirement home for 20 years just to play a joke on Harry…Pretty stupid if you ask me!

They pick up where they left off with Freda Felcher and the fact that they are going to look for her. When they find and address that they feel is associated with her Continue reading Dumb and Dumber To
